The four of us were all from "back east", and each of us talked about our plans to "return" to NYC, though none of us was properly from New York, and it's doubtful that "return" was as much a statement of intent as it was a consideration of displacement. We toasted to California, and by proximity, to the sea. In truly beautiful places such as this, a regard to surroundings is, as an added bonus, a self-affirmation.
